Usually, snow in Hawaii is found atop Mauna Kea, the big volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii. (From her base on the floor of the Pacific to her summit with the world's largest astronomical observatory of its kind, Mauna Kea is the world's highest mountain.)
It doesn't snow in downtown Honolulu (the capitol of the state of Hawaii, on the island of Oahu). So as I was walking toward Murphy's to meet Bob for dinner, I wondered what that white stuff was. People were shovelling it. I wondered if, maybe, it was for some ice sculpting event? That's Bob standing by the entrance, watching the stuff being shovelled across the street.

I double checked where we were, just to make sure: Murphy's Bar & Grill, at the corner of Nuuanu and Merchant Streets. They serve lunch and dinner, and Bob was taking me there for my birthday tomorrow/today.

Yep. Lots of activity across the street at O'Tool's, another (rival) Irish pub. Lots of ice over there, too. Hmmm… Maybe some after-St.Patty's day celebration that required ice? And frosted awnings and wet street & sidewalk?

Good thing I had my Palm Cell Phone. People in the street, not traffic. (We're accustomed to traffic being stopped for anything from the never-ending road work to police block, party or camera-work.)
Ice and shorts go well together. Ice goes best with 75° weather :)

Okay, I confirmed again just where this white stuff is. And took a picture just in case the others didn't turn out.
It does look rather cold…
I'll ask inside what's going on outside: a Scene for a Lost Episode.
While Bob & I had dinner, everyone did whatever they did for the show and by the time we stepped out, they had finished. Maybe they felt Lost with the Ice in Honolulu.
Okay, I've not seen Lost yet. But it must be very good, it's Cleatus's favorite show. Her birthday's tomorrow (March 24), so I'll take a few more pictures. (Happy Birthday, Cleatus!) Okay, Cristylin & Lani, this is for you, too. Michael & Kevin, do you also watch this? You must tell me… why is there snow in downtown Honolulu? Or is it supposed to be someplace else and the crew doesn't want to go where it's cold all over? (Are they Lost, or do they just want us Lost?)

The woman standing in the crosswalk above let me know that they don't let anyone take pictures of their sets. Since I wasn't hiding what I was doing, I suspect she thought I was Lost while using my cell phone…
So be sure to watch for this Lost episode! And don't get Lost in the snow in Honolulu!
Aloha!
